We have now received information from ground contriol that the car was playing up when low on fuel
I think this coupled with the air leak to the tank and one other problem a misfire under some loading gave us a whole heap of trouble.
Today I took the airfilter into the showere with me I had blown it out but perhaps not well enough and by the amount of dirt that do come out would have done some good today we are running with no airfilter.
Our stay last night was a last ditch gasp one of two things were going to happen we were going to take the next place or Neil would have been strung up from a tree. We had by this time realised that our spelling of Auschwitz had caused us some considerable problem this was exasperated by the fact that it does not appear that Poland does bed and breakfast. We had toured back roads and city streets until we finally found The Gala hotel come hostel, not only did it have a room but also a bar so Neil was saved his short drop and long dangle. Unfortunately we were too late for food although they would supply soup, and if we were luck bread, which I supplemented with iron rations. No sooner had I filled up, this was my only meal for the day, on pasta bloody soup and bread when another punter came in and was served with a bowl of chips.
The morning was not much better polish sausage which tastes like spam in a tube, and plastic cheese not my cup of tea, which I also had to have without milk as I don't know the polish for milk.
But on the bright side the bed were comfortable and the showers clean, notice I didn't say they both were but my Indian bed sheet came into its own.
After breakfast and the other necessitates we set off to visit Aushwitz something I had wanted to do for years. The Poles clearly don't like me, as we approached the car park we were waved on the car park was closed eventually we found a place to park and was informed that the camp Had a special event for world youth day. This meant we had to park near the restaurant and walk the hundred metres to another entrance great but then we were informed we had to walk to another entrance three hundred metres away which we did only to find we walked directly past the entrance that we had just tried...... It gets better. At the security desk Neil got stopped for his Swiss Army knife, at the same time I thought it would be an idea to get a picture of the BATON in the camp so I volunteered to walk back and the baton but also deposit Neil's knife, now this time I was able to walk out the same entrance, now we are not talking about a turnstile entrance this was a vehicle entrance you could get three buses through at the same time
I walked out and asked if I had to go the extra 300 metres to get back to the same place and was told in no uncertain terms that I had to now I am getting a bit annoyed by this point and whilst walking back to the entrance where I left Neil this time literally armed with the baton, which if you don't know does look like a club. I walked pass groups of police and again had to walk the 300 metres to get literally 10 feet from where I was.
I knew that there was going to be a strong chance of not getting in with the baton and as predicted was refused entry, sorry Alan I do try and get you the photo but in the end had to make do with just the paperwork .
Anyway yet again I walked pass my girl who yet again refused to allow me to walk back the same way I had walked out like so many things the further east you just no sense in the decision making just obey the rules.
